once upon a time... under the rule of Emperor Claudius ll, ancient Rome suffered many bloody wars. as such, many young men shunned the miltary. however Claudius thought their unwillingness to join stemmed from their love towards their wives and families. furious, the cruel emperor banned all young men from marriages and engagements. of course, this made the young men (with their raging hormones) very unhappy...

along came the good guy, Stant Valentine, a bishop [waD's tHis...?] who understood the predicament those young men were in. he bravely defied Bad Guy Clauduius and secretly helped marry lovers. when Saint Valentine's action were discivered, he was thrown into jail with the death sentence.

the Emperor's blind daughter paid the noble bishop visits in jail and soon, Saint Valentine fell in love with her. before Good Guy was beheaded, he wrote a letter to her and signed, "From your VAlentine", which inspired many others to follow suit thereafter.

Valentine's death on 14 February made him a marytr and ever since, this dae was celebrated to commemorate this heroic and romantic man.
